A friend who lives in a beautiful rural patch of Wiltshire emailed me the other day saying he watched a buck deer in rut with about eight different females in the span of thirty minutes in the field below his house. Deer are normally rather timid, fearful animals, except when they're in rut during late autumn. Then the males become very aggressive and fuck anything they can catch.
I've always loved that term rutting to describe particularly heedless humping with abandon by the human species, too. Unlike deer, however, we humans can go into rut much more frequently.
